Once upon a time, a south-easterly portion of Pennsylvania became known as Montgomery County.

Settlers from Germany, England, Wales, the Netherlands and Sweden called this region home and Quakers, Brethren, Schwenkfelders, Mennonites, Episcopalians and Lutherans all were free to practice their religions.

Closely located near the seaport town of Philadelphia, many other cultures soon became aware of the fruits of the county and immigrants from Ireland, Italy, and Poland intermingled.

From these cultures and religions, a story was begun that speaks loudly of our traditions and accomplishments interwoven into the fabric of American history.

Celebrate our county; learn of its past and the people that went on to make history. Discover the people who were here before us, the influences of other countries and realize how times have changed.

Joining us for this presentation are local historical societies from all corners of Montgomery County, the most knowledgeable speakers relating stories and displays that deal with the county along with crafters demonstrating time honored artisanship.

A timeline of military and civilian life will showcase the past from the Lenape Indians to World War II.

Saturday evening, visitors will be delighted by the Germantown English Country Dancers as they evoke a spirit of revelry with an exhibition of rural dancing.

We Need Your Story! We Hope You’ll Come and Commemorate our Shared History!
